About the project
A tornado left this Little Rock shopping center with collapsed roofs and 30-foot tilt-up walls leaning 18 inches.

The challenge
The March 2023 tornado tore through Colony West Shopping Center on Rodney Parham Road, collapsing roofs across the center and leaving the 30-foot concrete tilt-up walls of its big-box space leaning 18 inches out of plumb. About 40 tons of collapsed roof structure still sat against those walls, and taking it out in the wrong order could bring them down.
Working from the forensic engineer’s shoring drawings, CCG set 48 exterior T-14 tilt-up braces and had the walls locked in six hours, then installed interior scaffold towers the next day. Dial gauges recorded zero wall movement as the debris came out. CCG fabricated and welded the shoring steel on site, then rebuilt 23,155 SF of walls, roofing and stucco. The shoring work had no change orders, and reusing undamaged scaffold already on site saved $18,000.
